Hello all and welcome again to anther Just on Spec show,

Some new music has been hitting the Just on Spec letter box over the last few weeks. I want to introduce you to Endless boogie. They are one of those bands whose name summarises their sound. They play extended blues jams where vocals seem to be an afterthought. Well they do sing about things like “that’s a mighty fine pie” and “new pair of shoes”. However it is all about the grooves. Deep stoner blues grooves with touches of 1974 psychedelic rock.

Also I have bought a great compliation of Chris Knox. Chris, who has played in Toy Love and Tall Dwalfs was a staple of the Flying Nun records and the Dunedin sound. One of NZ finest singer songwriters. Unfortunately Knox suffered a stroke last year. The album Stroke – Songs For Chris Knox was put together to pay for a few doctors bills. All artists contributed their time and talent without charge. Artists include Jay Reatard, The Mint Chicks,  Yo La Tengo, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Bill Callahan, The Mountain Goats, The Bats, The Chills, The Verlaines and Lou Barlow. Check this out.You know this guy is a great performer when his guitar breaks down and he can still pull it off. Live TV huh!!

Finally I have been getting into Sleep. Perhaps the ultimate stoner rock band, alongside Just on spec Fav’s Kyuss. I have been listing to holy mountian around the clock for a week. Very Sabbath very rock very stoner. Check out their 60 minute jam album call “Dopesmoker”. They will be playing ATP (all tomorrow’s Parties) in NYC
