Just on spec Playlist 30/3/2010

March 30, 2010

G’day all, and welcome to another Just on Spec program. Here is some cake

Tonight I am joined by Len who will be going though his extensive record collection to find some absolute gems. I will be playing some new music from Eddie Current Suppression ring album “Rush to Relax”

If anyone can help, I was sent a CD John Phillips “Man on the Moon” by a random source. From the envelope it was sent from the Afro American Studies in Smith collage Northampton Massachusetts USA. I have no Idea who sent this to me. I is a nice folky reissue from the Andy Warhol musical and john Phillips is Pappa John from the Mamma and the Pappas. Who ever sent it….well Thanks. But I would love to know who the hell you are

Also tonight I am dedicating to Alex Chilton the song writing genius behind Big Star and his own solo work. Chilton was taken to the hospital in New Orleans on March 17, 2010, complaining of health problems, and died the same day of a heart attack. Here is a great article from Paul Westerburg about Alex. Some more info here, here and here.

Listen to this and this and this to hear his genius.
